Lean Startup Track at SXSW
We’re attending South by Southwest Interactive and today we’re in all day session called “The Lean Startup“ We’ve learned a lot in the past two years of building the API and releasing sometimes disappointing versions of our apps. We may have been frustrated at times, but we never quit believing that rich visual experiences of social media is interesting, has value, and has a potentially huge audience.
We’ve expanded our larger vision in the past six months to include visualizing music and are more energized than ever. This “pivot” has attracted more attention and increased interest than the simple app. We still LOVE our app SuperTwtr and are rolling out new releases of it this month. We completely rebuilt the API and the app and spent even more of our own money to do it. Art is expensive but always rewarding through the process.
At the end of the day the work on SuperTwtr is the foundation for the expanded visualized music platform we’re working on. How great is that? If we had given up or stayed with the single idea we could have never imagined the next next thing.

So being lean for us has meant weekly 6:30 a.m. calls with our team before we had to get our kids ready for school or to head to the day jobs. Working at night and weekends when our families and other responsibilities may have suffered. It has meant, being ultimately clear with each other our agreements with each other and sticking to it.
We’ve been very lucky to have a group of advisers and friends who have consulted with us. They helped us find an amazing lawyer who has deferred his fees until we’re further along and schooled us on the business of incorporation, convertible notes, adviser shares and he has been a steady voice calmness and wisdom.
We’ve had a few chances to take money from some people that we ultimately believed didn’t share our vision, or wanted to force us into a way of being that philosophically wasn’t aligned.
So we’re here today to learn and share our experience and let’s see where we land after this!
